On 5 January, the Citizenship Regulations were published in the Gazette, officially allowing citizenship through the mother’s name. This marks a major success after years of struggle and advocacy for equal rights.

The Government of Nepal has approved the Fourth Amendment to the Nepal Citizenship Regulations, 2082. After 14 days of peaceful protest, this has become a historic example for the country — proving that rights can also be achieved through peace, patience, and unity.

On 11 March, six individuals received citizenship through their mother’s name from the District Administration Office in Birgunj, Parsa.
